Asne Solovej

Landwirtin, geboren 1922 in Balvi, ermordet 1941 in Krustpils/Kreutzburg

Asne Solovej wurde 1922 im heute lettischen Ort Balvi geboren. Sie war die Tochter von Aron und Hinde Sore Solovej und wuchs mit vier Geschwistern auf. Asne Solovej lebte später im weiter südwestlich gelegenen Ort Krustpils und erlernte die Landwirtschaft. Im Juni 1941 besetzte die deutsche Wehrmacht Krustpils. In den darauffolgenden Wochen erschossen die Besatzer die jüdische Bevölkerung und jüdische Flüchtlinge im Wald von Koksene und im örtlichen Schlachthaus. Allein im August starben auf diese Weise 420 Menschen. Asne Solovej wurde 1941 vermutlich bei einer dieser Erschießungen ermordet. Sie war 19 Jahre alt.

Asne Solovej was born in 1922 in the small town of Balvi, in what is now Latvia. She was the daughter of Aron and Hinde Sore Solovej and had four siblings. Asne Solovej later moved to the town of Krustpils to the southwest, and studied agriculture. In June 1941 the German Wehrmacht occupied Krustpils. In the weeks that followed, the occupiers murdered the Jewish residents and Jewish refugees in the forest of Koksene and the local slaughterhouse. In August alone, 420 people were killed there. Asne Solovej was probably murdered in 1941 in one of these mass shooting operations. She was 19 years old.
