Sara Halpern

geboren 1898 in Kolbuszowa, ermordet 1942 in Belzec/Bełżec (VL)

Sara Halpern lived in Kolbuszowa, in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains in southern Poland. For centuries, Jews had been the majority there, working primarily as craftsmen. After German troops invaded in 1939, many of the Jews were put to work as forced labourers. In the summer of 1942, the occupiers deported the Jews of Kolbuszowa to the ghetto of Rzeszów. Most of them were then deported to Belzec, where they were poisoned with motor exhaust fumes. It is probable that Sara Halpern was among them.
