Leibish Baum

Leibish Baum lived in the small Polish town of Bóbrka. In 1941, German troops marched into the town. The occupying forces established a ghetto. Many inhabitants lost their lives to hunger, illness and to the daily acts of terror in the ghetto. In the course of 1942, the SS deported about 2,000 Jews to the Belzec extermination camp. In April 1943 the occupiers liquidated the ghetto, forcibly assembled the people in a nearby cemetery, and shot them there. Leibish Baum was not heard from again.
