Shlomo Zwawy lebte mit seinen Eltern und der Schwester Beila in der kleinen nordpolnischen Stadt Kolno, nahe der Grenze zu Ostpreußen. Mehr als die Hälfte der Bevölkerung war jüdisch. Am 22. Juni 1941 erreichte die deutsche Wehrmacht die Region um Kolno. In ihrem Gefolge befanden sich Einsatzkommandos, die sofort mit der Ermordung der Juden begannen. Innerhalb von zwei Wochen im Juli 1941 erschossen sie nahezu alle jüdischen Bewohner von Kolno. Einer von ihnen war Shlomo Zwawy.

Shlomo Zwawy lived with his parents and sister Beila in the small town of Kolno in northern Poland, near the east Prussian border. More than half the population was Jewish. On 22 June 1941, the German Army reached the area around Kolno. In their wake came Mobile Killing Squads, which immediately started to murder the Jews. Within two weeks, in July 1941, they shot nearly all the Jewish residents of Kolno. One of them was Shlomo Zwawy.
