Franka Lamm lived in Korczyna, in the foothills of the Polish Carpathian Mountains. She was a member of the village's Jewish minority. On 12 August 1942, German police herded the Jews together on the market square. The Gestapo then carried out a selection: They separated out the old and ill, took them to a nearby forest, and shot them dead. Most of the rest were deported to the Belzec extermination camp, where they were poisoned with carbon monoxide. Franka Lamm was never seen again.
