Uziel Singer

Uziel Singer lebte im polnischen Wislica, in der Nähe von Krakau. Er gehörte zur jüdischen Gemeinde der Stadt, die seit dem frühen 16. Jahrhundert bestand. Im September 1939 marschierte die deutsche Wehrmacht ein. Viele Juden flohen daraufhin in sowjetisch kontrolliertes Gebiet. In den folgenden Jahren kamen jüdische Flüchtlinge unter anderem aus Krakau in Wislica an. Am 3. Oktober 1942 deportierten die deutschen Besatzer alle in der Stadt verbliebenen Juden nach Treblinka. Uziel Singer gilt seitdem als verschollen.


Uziel Singer lived in the Polish town of Wislica, near Krakow. He belonged to the town's Jewish community, which dated back to the early 16th century. In September 1939 the German Wehrmacht entered the town. Many Jews took the chance to flee to Soviet controlled territory. Over the next couple of years, Jewish refugees came to the town from Krakow and other cities. On 3 October 1942, the German occupying authority deported all the Jews still remaining in the town to Treblinka. No sign of Uziel Singer has ever been found.
