Roza Schwarzbard

ermordet 1943 in Bialystok/Białystok

Roza Schwarzbard kam im Ostrow Mazowiecka zur Welt, einer ländlichen Kleinstadt nordöstlich von Warschau. Die Familie zog nach Bialystok, einer Industriestadt im Osten Polens. Bialystok wurde im Juni 1941 von der Deutschen Wehrmacht besetzt. Mit ihr kam ein Kommando der Einsatzgruppen, das sofort 2000 Juden ermordete. Im August 1941 musste die Familie Schwarzbard ins Ghetto ziehen, wo 50.000 Menschen zusammengedrängt wurden. Im Spätsommer 1943 fiel Roza Schwarzbard den katastrophalen Lebensbedingungen dort zum Opfer.


Roza Schwarzbard was born in Ostrow Mazowiecka, a rural town northeast of Warsaw. The family moved to Bialystok, an industrial center in eastern Poland. Bialystok was occupied by the German Army in June 1941. The Army was accompanied by a commando unit of a Mobile Killing Squad, which immediately murdered 2,000 Jews. In August 1941 the Schwarzbards had to move into a ghetto, into which 50,000 people had been crowded. In the late summer of 1943, Roza Schwarzbard died of the catastrophic conditions in the ghetto.
