Sándor Schwarz

ermordet 1944 in Auschwitz-Birkenau (VL)

Sándor Schwarcz lived in Martonvásár, a small town near Budapest. After German troops occupied Hungary in the spring of 1944, the systematic murder of the Jews began, under the command of Adolf Eichmann. SS and Hungarian police transferred all the Jews of Martonvásár to the Komárom ghetto. In June, they were deported with thousands of other prisoners to Auschwitz-Birkenau. The SS asphyxiated almost all of them with poison gas, shortly after their arrival. Sándor Schwarcz was among those murdered.
