Judit Wosner

geboren 1934 in Nagy-Megyer/Veľký Meder, ermordet 1944 in Auschwitz-Birkenau (VL)

Judit Wosner was the child of Katalina and Josef Wosner. The family lived in the small Slovakian town of Veľký Meder, on the border with Hungary. Her father was a grain merchant. In November 1938 Slovakia was forced to cede the border territory to Hungary. The new authorities immediately enacted anti-Jewish measures in the town, which they now called Nagymegyer. When German troops occupied the country in 1944, SS task commandos deported the Jewish inhabitants to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Almost all of them were asphyxiated with Zyklon B. Judit Wosner was 10 years old.
