Szymon Huberband

Rabbiner, geboren 1909 in unbekannt, ermordet 1942 in Treblinka (VL)

Szymon Huberband was born in 1909. He was a rabbi. During the Second World War he lived in the Warsaw Ghetto. He documented the religious life of the Jews and wrote a history of Polish cemeteries and synagogues, giving his notes to the ghetto’s underground archives. In the summer of 1942, SS and police units forced 5,000 Jews to gather each day at a square at the edge of the ghetto. Szymon Huberband was among them. He was deported in a freight train to the Treblinka extermination camp, where he was murdered with engine exhaust fumes. Szymon Huberband died on 18 August 1942 at the age of 33.
