Pinkas Berger

Pinkas Berger lebte in Stanislau, einer damals polnischen Stadt im Karpatenvorland,. In den 1930er Jahren war ein Drittel der 72.000 Einwohner jüdisch. Im Sommer 1941 besetzten deutsche Truppen Stanislau. Im Oktober 1941 wurden 12.000 Juden der Stadt in Kolonnen von 250 Personen zum jüdischen Friedhof getrieben und dort von SS-Männern und Polizisten erschosen. Eines der Opfer war Pinkas Berger.

Pinkas Berger lived in the town of Stanisławów in the foothills of the Carpathian mountains, then part of Poland. In the 1930s, a third of Stanisławów’s 72,000 residents were Jewish. German troops occupied Stanisławów in the summer of 1941. In October 1941 SS and Police marched 12.000 Jews to walk to the Jewish cemetery, where the SS and police shot them. 12,000 were murdered in this »Operation«. One of the victims was Pinkas Berger.
