Zipa Lefand

Zipa Lefand wurde 1938 geboren. Sie lebte mit ihren Eltern in Tschernigow im Nordosten der Ukraine. Zu Beginn des zweiten Weltkrieges wohnten dort etwa 12.000 Juden. Am 9. September 1941 besetzte die Wehrmacht Tschernigow. Kurz darauf begannen die SS-Sonderkommandos 7b und 4a mit Massenerschießungen. Bis Ende des Jahres 1941 ermordeten sie mehrere Tausend Juden. Eines der Opfer war Zipa Lefand. Sie wurde 3 Jahre alt.

Zipa Lefand was born in 1938. She lived with her parents in Chernigov, a town in northeastern Ukraine that was home to about 12,000 Jews at the start of World War II. On 9 September 1941 the Wehrmacht occupied Chernigov; it was not long before SS mobile killing squad 7b and 4a began mass shooting operations. By the end of 1941 they had murdered several thousand Jews. One of the victims was Zipa Lefand. She was 3 years old.
