Jozefina Fischerová

Jozefina Fischerová lebte in Bratislava, das ein bedeutendes Zentrum des orthodoxen Judentums war. In der heutigen Hauptstadt der Slowakei wohnten etwa 15.000 Juden. Ab Ende 1938 erließ die slowakische Regierung, die mit Deutschland verbündet war, immer mehr antijüdische Gesetze. Tausende von Juden aus Bratislava wurden in Provinzstädte vertrieben oder in das besetzte Polen deportiert. Im März 1942 verschleppten Mitglieder der SS 380 Frauen in das Vernichtungslager Auschwitz, wo sie wenig später mit Giftgas ermordet wurden. Eines der Opfer war Jozefina Fischerová. Sie wurde 45 Jahre alt.


Jozefina Fischerová lived in Bratislava, an important centre of Orthodox Jewry. About 15,000 Jews lived in the city, which today is the capital of Slovakia. At the end of 1938, the Slovakian government, allied with Germany, enacted increasing numbers of anti-Jewish laws. Thousands of Jews from Bratislava were driven out to provincial towns or deported into occupied Poland. In March 1942 SS members deported 380 women to the Auschwitz extermination camp, where they were probably murdered with poison gas. Jozefina Fischerová was one of the victims. She was 45 years old.
