Žana Gros

ermordet 1942 in Sajmiste/Sajmište/Semlin (KZ in Belgrad)

Žana Gros lived with her husband, the farmer and tradesman Martin-Moric Gros, in Vasina #17 in Belgrade. In April 1941, the German Wehrmacht occupied Serbia. The German occupiers immediately launched repressive measures against the country’s Jewish population. After a Serbian popular uprising in the summer, the occupiers sped up their extermination of the Jews. By December 1941, the Wehrmacht had murdered nearly all the Jewish men; then the SS killed the women and children by shooting and poison gas in the Sajmište concentration camp.
