Gutka Zwawy lebte mit ihrer Mann Yitzhak und den Kindern Beila und Shlomo in der kleinen nordpolnischen Stadt Kolno, nahe der Grenze zu Ostpreußen. Mehr als die Hälfte der Bevölkerung war jüdisch. Am 22. Juni 1941 erreichte die deutsche Wehrmacht die Region um Kolno. In ihrem Gefolge befanden sich Einsatzkommandos, die sofort mit der Verfolgung der Juden begannen. Innerhalb von zwei Wochen im Juli 1941 ermordeten sie nahezu alle jüdischen Bewohner von Kolno bei Massenerschießungen. Unter den Opfern war auch Gutka Zwawy.

Gutka Zwawy lived with her husband Yitzhak and children Beila and Shlomo in the small town of Kolno in northern Poland, near the border with East Prussia. More than half the local population was Jewish. On 22 June 1941, the German Army reached the region surrounding Kolno. The troops were followed by Mobile Killing Units, which commenced immediately with the persecution of the Jews. Within two weeks in July 1941 they murdered nearly the entire Jewish population of Kolno in mass shooting operations. One of those murdered was Gutka Zwawy.
