Jakob Laib Motyl

Kaufmann, geboren 1897 in Gostynin

Jakob Laib Motyl grew up in the small Polish town of Gostynin, west of Warsaw. He became a businessman and got married. In early September 1939 the German Army occupied the city. This also meant persecution for the Jews of Gostynin who numbered around 2,000. With the rest of the town's Jewish population, Motyl was forced to move into a ghetto. It is likely that in March 1942 he was sent to the labour camp in Konin, and died soon afterwards. The exact circumstances of his death are unknown.
