Zalman Ashkovski

Zalman Ashkovski lebte in der weißrussischen Stadt Borissow. Im Zuge des Überfalls auf die Sowjetunion nahm die Wehrmacht die Stadt im Sommer 1941 ein. Sofort wurde ein Ghetto errichtet, in dem die Juden fortan leben mussten. Im Herbst 1941 wurden mehrere Massenerschießungen in Borissow durchgeführt, die letzte und größte im Oktober. Innerhalb von eineinhalb Tagen erschossen Angehörige der SS und Mitglieder der weißrussischen Miliz 8000 Juden. Von Zalman Ashkovski fehlt seither jede Spur.

Zalman Ashkovski lived in the Belarusian town of Borisov. The Wehrmacht occupied the town in the course of its attack on the Soviet Union in the summer of 1941. A ghetto was set up immediately, and the Jews were forced to move there. In the autumn of 1941, several mass shooting operations were carried out in Borisov. The last and largest was in October. Within one and a half days, killing squads and Belarusian militia shot 8,000 Jews. No trace of Zalman Ashkovski was ever found.
