Samuel Michelson wurde am 1. Mai 1929 in der lettischen Hauptstadt Riga geboren. Er war der Sohn des Fabrikanten Siegfried Michelson und seiner Frau Slawa. Nach dem Einmarsch der Wehrmacht in Riga im Juli 1941 musste Samuel mit seiner Familie im Ghetto leben. Am 30. November 1941 wurde das Ghetto geräumt, um Platz für deportierte deutsche Juden zu schaffen. Angehörige des Sicherheitsdienstes, der Ordnungspolizei und lettischer Polizeieinheiten führten Samuel und die anderen Ghettobewohner zum nahe gelegenen Wald von Rumbula und erschossen sie dort. Samuel war zwölf Jahre alt.

Samuel Michelson was born on 1 May 1929 in Riga, the capital of Latvia. He was the son of the factory owners Siegfried and his wife Slawa. After the German Army took over Riga in July 1941, Samuel and his family had to move into the ghetto. On 30 November 1941, the ghetto was cleared to make room for deported German Jews. Members of the Security Service, the Order Police and Latvian police units took Samuel and the other inhabitants of the ghetto into the nearby forest of Rumbula and shot them. Samuel was 12 years old.
