Szlama Filozof

Szlama Filozof lived in Płońsk, northwest of Warsaw. Almost half the population was Jewish. After German troops arrived in September 1939, the town was incorporated into the German Reich and renamed Plöhnen. In May 1941 the occupiers set up a ghetto, and all the town’s Jews had to resettle there. Starting on 28 October 1942 nearly all the Jews of Płońsk were deported to Auschwitz.
