Abraham Halberstad

Abraham Halberstad wurde am 15. September 1878 in Amsterdam geboren. Mit seiner Frau Jetje und seiner Tochter Bloeme lebte er in der Spitskopstraat 10. Nach dem Überfall der Wehrmacht auf die Niederlande im Mai 1940 begann die systematische Verfolgung und Ermordung der holländischen Juden. Abraham Halberstad musste im Herbst 1941 ins Ghetto ziehen. Von dort deportierten ihn SS-Mitglieder ins Vernichtungslager Sobibor, wo er am 13. März 1943 vermutlich mit Motorabgasen getötet wurde. Abraham Halberstadt war 64 Jahre alt.

Abraham Halberstad was born on 15 September 1878 in Amsterdam. He lived with there on Spitskopstraat 10 his wife Jetje and his daughter Bloeme. After the Wehrmacht attacked the Netherlands in May 1940 the occupiers initiated the systematic persecution and murder of the Jewish population. Abraham Halberstad had to move into a newly established ghetto in the autumn of 1941. SS-members deported him to the Sobibor extermination camp. On 13 March 1943 he was killed probably with engine exhaust fumes. Abraham Halberstad was 64 years old.
