Ignac Lichtman lebte mit seiner Ehefrau Amalia in der nordtranssylvanischen Stadt Szilagy Somlyo. Mit dem Einmarsch deutscher Truppen im März 1944 begann die systematische Verfolgung und Ermordung der dort lebenden Juden. SS-Männer und ungarische Polizisten zwangen Ignac Lichtman in das auf dem Gelände einer Ziegelei errichtete Ghetto. Dort mussten 8.500 jüdische Männer, Frauen und Kinder bis zu ihrer Deportation in das Vernichtungslager Auschwitz unter katastrophalen Bedingungen leben. Ignac Lichtman wurde wahrscheinlich im Juni 1944 in Auschwitz mit Giftgas ermordet.

Ignac Lichtman lived with his wife Amalia in the Transsylvanian town of Szilagy Somlyo. The arrival of German troops in March 1944 marked the start of the systematic persecution and murder of the Jews living there. Members of the SS and Hungarian police forced Ignac Lichtman to live in a ghetto they had set up on the site of a nearby brick factory. 8,500 Jewish men, women and children were forced to endure horrific conditions there until they were deported to the Auschwitz Extermination camp. Ignac Lichtman was probably murdered in June 1944 in Auschwitz with poison gas.
