Julie Stroumsa wurde 1915 in Saloniki, Griechenland geboren. Bereits als Kind lernte sie Geige spielen. Kurz vor dem Krieg wollte sie zu ihrem Verlobten nach New York ziehen. Sie erhielt jedoch kein Visum und wurde im Mai 1943 nach Auschwitz deportiert. Nach der Ankunft überstand sie zunächst die Selektion an der Rampe und wurde Mitglied des Frauenorchesters von Auschwitz. Mit dem Herannahen der Roten Armee Ende 1944 räumte die SS das Vernichtungslager. Julie Stroumsa wurde in das Konzentrationslager Bergen-Belsen im Reichsgebiet gebracht, wo sie kurz vor Kriegsende an Typhus starb. Sie war 30 Jahre alt.

Julie Stroumsa was born in 1915 in Thessaloniki, Greece. She was only a child when she started learning to play the violin. Shortly before the war, she wanted to join her fiancé in New York. But she couldn't get a visa and in May 1943 she was deported to Auschwitz. She made it through the first selection at the entrance ramp, and was assigned to the women's orchestra of Auschwitz. With the Red Army approaching at the end of 1944, the SS cleared out the extermination camp. Julie Stroumsa was taken to the concentration camp Bergen-Belsen inside the German Reich, where she died of typhus shortly before the end of the war. She was 30 years old.
