Yomtov Angel wohnte im griechischen Saloniki, einer Stadt, in der mehrheitlich Juden spanischen Ursprungs lebten. Im April 1941 eroberte die deutsche Wehrmacht Saloniki. Die deutsche Verwaltung gaukelte den jüdischen Bewohnern Salonikis im Frühjahr und Sommer 1943 vor, dass sie in der Nähe der polnischen Stadt Krakau zur Arbeit eingesetzt würden. Alle Juden mussten deshalb Bahnfahrkarten dritter Klasse erwerben. Die Züge fuhren jedoch ins Vernichtungslager Auschwitz-Birkenau. Wahrscheinlich wurde auch Yomtov Angel gleich nach seiner Ankunft mit Zyklon B ermordet.

Yomtov Angel lived in the Greek city of Thessaloniki, whose Jewish population was mostly of Spanish origin. In April 1941, the German Wehrmacht occupied Thessaloniki. In the spring and summer of 1943, the German administration led the Jews of Thessaloniki to believe they would be sent to work near the Polish city of Cracow. All Jews were thus forced to buy third class railway tickets. But the trains actually brought them to the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp. Yomtov Angel was probably among those murdered right after arrival, with Zyklon B poison gas.
