Henia Brand

Schülerin/Studentin, geboren 1921 in Krakau/Kraków, ermordet 1942 in Belzec/Bełżec (VL)

Henia Brand kam in Krakau im Süden Polens zur Welt. Sie war die Tochter des Pelzhändlers Solomon Brand und seiner Frau Blima. Henia studierte an der Krakauer Universität, als ihre Eltern mit ihrem Bruder und ihr kurz vor Kriegsausbruch nach Jedlice weiter im Osten umzogen. Im September 1939 marschierte die deutsche Wehrmacht ein. Im Sommer 1942 trieben die Besatzer Henia Brand, ihre Familie und alle Juden von Jedlice in die nahe gelegene Stadt Krosno. Von dort wurden sie ins Vernichtungslager Belzec deportiert. Dort starben Henia, ihr Bruder und ihre Eltern wahrscheinlich noch im Sommer 1942 in der Gaskammer. Henia Brand wurde 21 Jahre alt.

Henia Brand was born in Cracow in southern Poland. She was the daughter of the furrier Solomon Brand and his wife Blima. Henia was studying at the University of Cracow when her parents moved further east to Jedlice with her and her brother shortly before the beginning of the war. The German Wehrmacht invaded in September 1939. In the summer of 1942, the occupiers forced Henia Brand, her family and all the Jews in Jedlice to the nearby town of Krosno. They were deported from there to the extermination camp Belzec. Henia, her brother and parents were murdered in the gas chamber there, probably in the summer of 1942. Henia Brand was 21 years old.
